Streaks, explained: how to keep one and how to save it

Your streak counts consecutive days on which you've completed at least one puzzle. Milestones pay coins, and the number itself does the rest of the work.

Why streaks work

Two reasons. First, loss aversion — a 40-day streak feels like something you own, and losing it feels like a loss rather than a non-gain. Second, it removes a daily decision: you're not weighing whether to play, you're maintaining something. Habits survive on the absence of deliberation.

The flip side is worth naming: if a streak starts producing anxiety rather than a nudge, it's stopped being useful. Breaking one has no consequence beyond the number resetting.

What keeps it alive

• Complete at least one puzzle in any mode. Length and difficulty don't matter.
• Replaying a puzzle already in your library counts — you don't need to spend a generation.
• Offline completions count. They sync when you reconnect, and the day is credited.

That last point matters more than it sounds: a flight or a patchy connection doesn't cost you a streak, as long as you play.

The Streak Freeze

A Streak Freeze costs 100 coins and covers exactly one missed day. It's consumed automatically the moment you'd otherwise break — you don't have to remember to activate anything.

At 100 coins, that's ten rewarded ads — or a good daily spin. Cheap insurance for something that takes weeks to rebuild.

Building one that survives

1. 1Attach it to something you already do daily — coffee, the commute, before bed.
2. 2Pick a fast mode for busy days. A jumble round takes a couple of minutes.
3. 3Turn on the daily reminder so the decision never depends on memory.
4. 4Keep a freeze banked once you're past two weeks.
5. 5If it breaks, start again the same day. The second attempt is always easier.
