Language Match: vocabulary practice that checks itself
Language Match shows an English word and asks you to build its translation from a set of letters. Lexora ships nine target languages, and — unlike most vocabulary games — every pair is verified against real dictionary data before it reaches you, rather than being whatever a model produced.

The cognate problem, and why we filter it
Ask a model for Spanish vocabulary about cinema and you get DIRECTOR, ACTOR, DRAMA — words identical or near-identical in English. They look like translations and teach nothing. Lexora's generator explicitly rejects near-identical cognates, so a Portuguese set about combat sports gives you SOCO for punch and CINTURÃO for belt, not NOCAUTE for knockout.
Making vocabulary stick
- Say the target word aloud as you build it. Motor and auditory memory both reinforce the visual one.
- Play the same topic in a different language a week later — the semantic grouping is already in place, so only the new labels have to stick.
- Do not chase a streak here. Vocabulary responds to spacing far more than to volume.
- When a word will not stay, invent a deliberately silly link between the sound and the meaning. Absurd associations are measurably more memorable than sensible ones.
